Rainwater Collection

We strongly believe that fresh water supplies are frgile and depleting worldwide.  We also believe in insuring that there will be clean, safe, and abundant water sources for future generations.  In our particular area, we are stewards of several aquifers whose health and futures depend on us, our lifestyles, and life support choices.

Sustainability
The use of rainwater for part or all of our domestic water requirements is one the simplest and most effective conservation efforts we can make as individuals.

Water Quality
One of the added benefits is the purity of the water.  Rainwater's PH is almost neutral so it is easier on your hair, better for your plants, requires less laundry detergent, and tastes better than well or city water.

Drainage
Rainwater harvesting can also solve drainage problems in cases where runoff is an issue by either diverting water to another area or by containing and collecting it.

Cost Effectiveness
After the initial installation it's free!  Yes, there is the ongoing cost for filters, electricity for the pump, and or a UV unit if you install a potable (drinkable) system, but wells share some or all of those costs too.

How It Works

Your system can be designed for the whole house or as an irrigation/livestock water source only.  we can design our systems for simplified future expansion-elminating retro-fit costs.  We can also interface with exsisting well or city water distribution systems giving you a back up to your rainwater collection systems.

The 4 basic elements of a Rainwater Collection System are:
1. The Roof or Collection Area
2. Conveyance/Transport System
            - Gutters, downspouts, first flush component (cleans the system before storing to avoid debris in the tanks and or system), and piping to storage tanks
3. Storage
            - Cistern/tank
4. Distribution
            - Pump, filtration, and sterilization for drinking water
            - Piping to end use area
